Try again

Ah, yes, if you read the numbers right it helps so.......

This is better, these are chairs not people or dolls houses.

I've also done some more sewing, Mark's quilt top is now together. Two crazy quilt blocks are done, I do love doing these. I made a crazy quilt over two years ago and promised myself another one so this is now four blocks done, just pieced that is not embellished. I'll try for some more pictures tomorrow. In the meantime a couple more pictures of a hanging that I did from Kumiko Sudo's designs.

Pictures and progress

Some more done on chairs, AND some pictures, don't really know how to get them from camera to computer yet but some progress.

Here they are: Oh no they aren't. Wrong pictures. This is my husband and grandaughter and
dollshouse in progress. Don't know how that happened, will try again later or tomorrow.

Upholstery Day

Progress on green chair, front filets sewn on and front of seat sewn down, next bit pinned on. Took some photdographs today and will figure out how to get them into computer tomorrow. Went to London Quilters last night and heard Effie Galletley speak and show her landscape quilts, a multi talented and very pleasant woman. Still on piece work with the alphabet quilt. If the chair pictures work then loads more will follow.

Seem to have got a bit done today. Filets pinned on front of striped chair, preparation complete on Carmen's quilt for Mark. One of our fellow members of Round the Block, Carmen, sadly died in August last year and she had started a quilt for her son Mark, so we as a group are finishing it for him and her. Last two borders on the double sided log cabin and a bit more on the the curtains for this room. to hide the shelves. I sound a bit more positive too, just noticed. Good.

Whoops

Planned to visit a Dolls House Fair tomorrow, until I discovered it was today, maybe my brain isn't properly in gear. There is another one in Thame next Saturday, so maybe? I did paint the bedroom in the doll's house today, in what I think is the right colour. I did some more on the screens we started last week and Tres Bad, ordered some books from Amazon, cheer myself up shopping, but Hey, whatever works.
I went to the library yesterday and borrowed the most fabulous book 'Above the World' stunning satelite images from above earth. The most gorgeous pictures which I think would translate into textile beautifully.
I started this blog in order to participate in Sharon Boggins monthly challenge, but by the time I'd set this up it was full, but I intend to join in a bit anyway. Also I saw some of the results of the journal quilt challenge from last year on other blogs and in the flesh, Margaret Cooter's which were lovely. So I've decided to combine the two ideas and challenge myself. I found some lovely fabrics in my stash today and I have an idea of the design. I'm hoping to start that next Thursday. I think that's all for now.

Still Struggling

As in the title, still finding life a bit difficult. On the computer front, I've been trying so very hard to find out how to use google reader, as yet to no avail, but I will get there. Also to take and post more pictures, this entails borrowing a camera, which is better than the one I have, so, soon, very soon, more will be happening here.
Maybe this is partly how I'm coping, much activitym but not much to show for it, yet.
On the textile front just more of the same, progress on both chairs, double sided log cabin. It was a Round the Block meeting today, delightful company and chat, some of it about sewing and some not.
I haven't told anyone about this blog yet, feel it's so dull I can't imagine anyone would want to read it, but maybe will take courage soon.

Gap in posting

Haven't felt much like posting, I don't intend that this blog should be about personal stuff, but feel I must say something just to explain. My Husband has had cancer for the last two years and on Wednesday we were told that there is 'something' on the kidneys, this follows a clear scan in December. He's to have a PET scan and the results in early February or maybe sooner. So, as I said didn't feel much like posting.
I have carried on doing 'stuff' so a brief resume, more done on both chairs, nearly finished a small double sided log cabin I started at a workshop last year and today I went to a miniaturist group and we all made doll's house size screens, well we all started them. I want to make 4 in total 1 for my doll's house and 3 for Christmas room settings in the form of Advent Calendars, 2 for gifts and 1 for me. This is a delightful group of about 20 enthusiasts, maybe 10 attend each meeting, they are all very experienced and produce the most delightful tiny things. There is always a raffle and everyone gets a prize, it always seems that my ticket comes out 1st or 2nd and today I won a delicious little room box in a picture frame, it's like a kitchen dresser. I'll try for some more pictures tomorrow or Monday.

Enjoyed upholstery workshop today, more talking than work but that's allowed after a holiday. Did however get the seat cover well under way and planned the last cutting for the remainder of the top cover. Brought the top cover home and cut the piping strips and filet pieces, so want to have them both finished this month and lots of other stuff too, so had better just keep cracking on. More hand quilting on the alphabet quilt tonight, slower than I'd hoped though. Am trying to plan the Japanese challenge from Round the Block, will look in Kumiko Sudo's book East meets West.

First picture

At the third attempt, an image of the bag not very exciting but it was a pre-prescribed pattern and I've seen a picture of February's bag and it looks much more fun. Some more done to the chair and doll's house since I last posted and the curtains for shelves. I go to my upholstery group tomorrow and work on the twin chair, that is one stays there and it's twin is here and I work on them in tandem. Plan to have them both finished by the end of January in my scheme, we'll see? More pictures soon I hope.

Not much today as predicted, finished shortening a pair of trousers, big deal. Did, however buy some nice folders to organise my ever increasing amount of info. and stuff from the internet, and cut and ironed some gorgeous fabric I've had for ages, for curtains in front of the shelves in the room where my computer, upholstery, dying, dolls house and embroidery stuff is kept. Phew, those curtains will cover loads of clutter.

A bit more of this and that today. This morning my friends from Round the Block came to me for our alternate weekly meeting and as planned we worked on some 'wonkey house' blocks in the style of Gwen Marston, it was lovely to see them all today and talk of 'quilty' things and make more detailed plans for our exhibition in April. After they had all gone I finished the BQL bag and prepared some teeny tiny Christmas foundation blocks for my advent calendar, maybe I'll work out how to post pictures on here tomorrow. Some more hand quilting on the alphabet quilt tonight, not a bad days achievements. Mostly errands tomorrow.

Some progress today, like 11 metres piping cut and sewn for one of the two chairs I've almost finished upholstering and a little bit of it sewn onto the two front fillets. Best of all an idea developed for the sort of cushions/arm covers that I want to make. Started and almost finished the first bag of the BQL challenge so that's 1 down 11 to go. Well it doesn't sound much but it will all come together as the month progresses, I do hope.

New to this.

I didn't plan to start a blog and the New Year simultaneously, but here we are, a slightly strange feeling, but a bit nice.
I have done the same thing this year as for a few years previously and that is to make a very ambitious list of all the projects I would like to finish, and many that I would like to start and finish during this year. Then I break it down into months and allocate jobs to finish during that time, still over ambitious, but it does focus me enormously. I'm hoping that this blog will help too, that is to articulate my thoughts and help clarify them.
So today I've been preparing this months projects, so I can start immediately and not spend ages assembling the bits and pieces I need. I haven't even succeeded in that task today, because tacking 3 layers of a quilt together took ages, it was the outside edges, all the middle is quilted and the outside blocks need quilting now. I hope to have it finished by the end of February and ready to show in and exhibition planned for April, more of that later. Although I didn't manage all my preparations today I did manage quite a lot. So tomorrow I should be able to start without delay. This feels a bit disjointed but am sure a 'flow' will develop.
